Thunder Rosa Offered to Relinquish Her AEW Women’s Title Following Her Injury

Due to a back injury, Thunder Rosa was forced to withdraw from her match against Toni Storm for the AEW Women’s Title that was scheduled to take place at All Out.

Rosa described her back injury pain on a recent episode of Busted Open Radio, saying she will be out for a few months and can’t feel her legs.

In order to determine who will serve as the interim AEW Women’s World Champion, a four-way match between Britt Baker, Jamie Hayter, Hikaru Shida, and Toni Storm will take place. TAEW President Tony Khan was the one who advocated for the use of an interim title rather than permanently stripping Rosa of her championship.

Khan mentioned this fact while he was a guest on Busted Open Radio. He said that Rosa had expressed interest in giving up her title.

“I have told her [Thunder Rosa] just as I mentioned to CM Punk when he was injured that, ‘I would like for you to remain the champion. Get healthy, come back’ and we’ll have a big unification match to crown an undisputed champion when Thunder Rosa returns. Both of them offered to relinquish the title and I told each of them, separately, when they came back from their injuries, they would still be recognized as the champion but by the time they came back, there would be an interim champion which would set up an exciting situation.”
