The NJPW has released information about the upcoming tournament that will crown the inaugural IWGP Women’s Champion.
The tournament will start on Sunday, October 2, at Night 2 of Royal Quest II in London, England, according to a press conference that was held today. The quarterfinals will then go on at the Stardom event on Saturday, October 22, and the semifinals will take place at the Stardom event on Sunday, October 23.
On Sunday, November 20 in Ariake, Japan, NJPW and Stardom will collaborate on Historic X-over where the tournament finals will take place.
The newly crowned IWGP Women’s Champion will then put her new title on the line for the first time at Wrestle Kingdom 17 on January 4 at the Tokyo Dome.
The new IWGP Women’s Champion will be defended at NJPW events in Japan and the US, NJPW and Stardom previously announced. The World of Stardom Title and the Wonder of Stardom Title will continue to be Stardom’s primary titles even though this one will primarily be for NJPW.
Stardom wrestlers will also appear on NJPW events in the US, as it was previously announced.
