Bruce Prichard On The Reason Why He Stepped Down As The Undertaker’s Manager

For younger viewers, The Undertaker was synonymous with his manager Paul Bearer. Up until the death of Paul Bearer, he was often by the side of The Dead Man, especially in the earlier days of WWE.

However, the older wrestling fans may also remember when Bruce Prichard was the original manager of The Undertaker. Back in 1990 when The Underaker made his debut, Prichard played the role of Brother Love. The red-faced hypeman accompanied Undertaker to the ring and was generally well-received by viewers at the time.

However, speaking on his recent ‘Something to Wrestle With’ Podcast, Prichard stated “I was given the choice, I decided I wanted to focus more backstage and The Undertaker character needed somebody on the road with him full time for that package to really work. Paul Bearer’s character was a much better manager for Undertaker than Brother Love.”

He later went on to say “Who better than Paul Bearer? Brother Love had so much more to do by spreading the word of love that he couldn’t devote to just one person.”

After his stint as The Undertaker’s manager, Prichard was involved in various managerial roles in the WWE up until 2008. Usually looking after a heel character, he was always well known on the mic. After the WWE he moved onto TNA and various other promotions and has since moved onto Podcasts and other interests.
