– While it was recently reported that Brodie Lee had suffered an ankle injury, Tony Khan did not provide an official reason for Lee’s absence during a recent media call. Khan only stated that Lee is one of AEW’s top stars and hopes Lee returns soon. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer noted that Lee’s absence “is a state secret that nobody is talking about.”
– Dave Meltzer is reporting that the AEW vs. Impact Wrestling inter-promotional storyline was done because “AEW was looking for something to jump start business going into the new year.” Meltzer added that AEW has been wanting to work with as many companies as possible and Tony Khan had even spoken with Rocky Romero about an AEW/NJPW relationship. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it’s unlikely that there will be a working relationship in the near future.
