The angle featuring Rey Mysterio’s 19-year-old daughter, Aalyah Mysterio declaring her love for 32-year-old Murphy on this past week’s WWE SmackDown was very well received backstage. Although some fans have been making a big deal about the age difference, it hasn’t been an issue backstage.
Overall, everyone involved was given props for how they pulled it off and Vince McMahon was pleased, RingsideNews reports.
A tenured member of the creative team revealed that “everyone thought it was very well done.” Some fans jumped at the chance to drag the segment, but those in WWE thought it went well.
As PWMania.com previously reported, Bruce Prichard was not at SmackDown this past week, and Triple H was involved in helping with some segments. Aalyah and Murphy’s big reveal was one segment Triple H had a hand in.
Although she is not currently under a WWE contract, the angle between Aalyah Mysterio and Murphy, which started on RAW prior to the WWE Draft, and now continuing on SmackDown, is far from over.
