WWE RAW Results – August 19, 2019
We are in St. Paul, Minnesota and your announcers are Michael Cole, Renee Young, and Jerry Lawler.
Roman Reigns makes his way to the ring.
We go to a video package. He says he does not know what is going on and who is attacking him. He says it is one thing to happen in the ring, but this is happening in the back. It is another thing to try to hit him with a car. It has affected his life and livelihood and his ability to support his family. Roman says he has seen the photos and he has some questions. We see Roman confronting Buddy Murphy and then the way that Roman plays bad cop with Buddy.
We take a look at Daniel Bryan’s comments about how Buddy confessed to Rowan attacking Roman. Then we see Daniel Bryan and Erick Rowan do the same to Buddy. We see Daniel Bryan and Erick Rowan confront Roman at the end of Smackdown and the revelation that they have figured out who did it.
Dolph Ziggler says he wants to tell Roman face to face he is not a keyboard warrior and confront Roman face to face to discuss everything that has happened. Dolph says he doesn’t know why Roman gets all of the attention. You almost got hit by a lighting rig and a car. Do you know what it is like to be speared by Goldberg? Dolph reminds us he was speared three times. It is bad enough to get speared by Goldberg and he didn’t see it coming. Dolph says he thought he had to wait 6 months between spears. Then Shawn Michaels super kicks him. Last week, he was so out of it that Maryse’s husband beat him with Ric Flair’s hold.

Match Number One: Roman Reigns versus Dolph Ziggler
Ziggler misses a super kick and Roman with a punch that sends Ziggler to the floor. Roman goes to the floor and he comes off the ring steps but Ziggler moves and sends Roman into the ringside barrier. Ziggler with a Zig Zag on the floor and we go to commercial.
We are back and Dolph with a reverse chin lock and kick followed by a punch. Ziggler is sent to the apron and then to the floor. Roman goes to the floor and he catches Ziggler with a Drive By. They return to the ring and Ziggler misses a clothesline and Roman with a flying clothesline of his own. Roman with NeverEnding Story followed by a running boot to the head. Roman looks around for the Superman punch and Ziggler with a rollup for a near fall. Ziggler with a hesitation DDT for a near fall.
Ziggler sets for a Zig Zag but Roman holds on to the ropes and Roman pushes Ziggler away. Ziggler with a sunset flip for a near fall. Roman blocks a Fameasser but Ziggler escapes a power bomb attempt. Roman hits the turnbuckles when he charges into the corner and Ziggler with a Zig Zag for a near fall. Ziggler sets for the super kick. Roman blocks it and Roman with a Superman punch to Ziggler for a near fall. Roman sets for the spear while Ziggler gets back to his feet. Ziggler counters with a Fameasser for a near fall. Ziggler taunts Roman and he slaps Roman and calls him an idiot. Dolph calls Roman selfish and Roman with a spear for the three count.
Winner: Roman Reigns

We are back and Michael and Renee talk about Sasha Banks. We have a video package showing Sasha’s return to Raw last week.
Becky Lynch is in the back and she says Sasha Banks beat her stupid last week with a chair. Becky says people ask her why is she calling out the locker room. Becky says she is looking forward to Sasha’s answers to Jerry Lawler. Becky says she wants to fight everyone at their best. Right now, Sasha is at her best. Four months ago, Sasha ran away crying from the WWE, but last week, she was hotter than ever? What did Sasha do on her four month vacation that made her so hot?
Becky says Sasha did absolutely nothing. Becky says it only took a few media appearance to get Sasha on the top of the mountain. Becky says you can swing your chair and wear your dollar store glasses, but she did more to get Sasha into the WWE than Sasha did. The great don’t need to be goaded into greatness, they seek it. This is a cat and mouse game and she is going to give Sasha something to go home and cry about.
Jerry Lawler is in the ring and he welcomes everyone to The King’s Court. Jerry mentions the King of the Ring. He says it is more than a moniker. It is a launching pad for some. Bret Hart, Steve Austin, and Brock Lesnar were all King of the Ring. Sixteen of the top superstars are going to battle in the ring to be called the King of the Ring. Jerry says it will come down to Cedric Alexander and Ricochet on the Raw side. On the Smackdown side . . .
The lights go down and Jerry knows what is coming. Jerry leaves the ring and he goes up the ramp, but the Fiend is on the ramp, behind Jerry Lawler. The Fiend gives Lawler the mandible claw.

Match Number Two: Ricochet and Miz versus Baron Corbin and Drew McIntyre
Miz and Drew start things off and Drew with an elbow and punch but he runs into a boot from Miz. Ricochet tags in and he kicks Drew and Miz with an Awesome Clothesline. Ricochet with a springboard clothesline. Miz with a boot and Ricochet with a standing moonsault. Corbin is sent to the floor. Miz with a drop kick through the ropes and Ricochet with a moonsault off the ring post onto Drew and Baron as we go to commercial.
We are back and Miz punches Baron but Baron with a back elbow. Baron with punches to Miz. Drew tags in and he runs Miz into the turnbuckles and then hits an overhead belly-to-belly suplex for a near fall. Drew with an arm bar. Miz with punches and Drew with a clothesline. Baron tags in and Baron kicks Miz in the ribs. Miz blocks a punch and punches Corbin but Corbin with a punch to stop Miz. Corbin runs around the ring post and hits a clothesline in the corner. Drew tags in and hits a spinebuster for a near fall.
Drew with a chop but Miz with a DDT and both men are down. Corbin and Ricochet tag in and Riochet with a flying forearm and enzuigiri. Ricochet kicks Drew to the floor and then Corbin sends Ricochet to the apron. Ricochet with an elbow and then he leaps over Corbin and hits a baseball slide on Drew. Ricochet lands on his feet on a belly-to-back suplex attempt. Corbin runs around the post and Ricochet avoids him. Ricochet with a drop kick for a near fall. Ricochet with a shoulder into the corner and then he kicks the turnbuckle with Corbin’s head on the turnbuckle. Ricochet with a standing shooting star press for a near fall.
Miz tags in and Drew with a boot to Miz and then Drew tosses Ricochet across the ring. Drew sets for a Claymore but Ricochet with a super kick and Miz with a Skull Crushing Finale. Baron with a choke slam to Miz but he misses Ricochet. Ricochet with a shoulder and then Corbin catches Ricochet. Ricochet lands on his feet on a choke slam attempt. Corbin with Deep Six for a near fall. Corbin punches Ricochet on the turnbuckles and Ricochet with a missile drop kick to Corbin. Corbin sends Ricochet into the ring post but Miz pulls Ricochet out of the way and Corbin hits the ring post. Ricochet with Recoil for the three count.
Winners: Miz and Ricochet
We are back and we see Sasha Banks in the back getting ready for an interview with someone other than Jerry Lawler.
Michael Cole is joined by Booker T.
Michael asks Booker about what has happened to Hall of Famers at the hands of The Fiend. Booker says Bray is a fiend. He is like a rabid dog. You can put him down or you can run, like Bray says. Jerry was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Cole reminds Booker about winning King of the Ring in 2006 when he became King Bookaaaaah. Cole asks what did it mean for him. He says winning King of the Ring puts a stamp and exclamation point on his career. Cole asks Booker who is his pick for King of the Ring.
Booker says his pick is Drew McIntyre.
Match Number Three: Braun Strowman versus AJ Styles (with Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson) for the United States Championship
AJ gets face to middle of the chest with Strowman and AJ with a shot and Braun responds. AJ tries to clip Braun and it does not work. Braun with a shoulder tackle and AJ goes to the floor. Braun chases AJ around the ring and AJ with kicks and punches as Braun gets back into the ring. Braun grabs AJ by the throat and AJ escapes. AJ with kicks to the leg. Braun with a back body drop and then he knocks Gallows and Anderson off the apron. Braun runs into a boot from Styles. SJ with a forearm and he sets for teh Phenomenal Forearm but Braun with a chop as AJ comes off the ropes. Braun sets for the running power slam and Gallows with a super kick. The referee calls for the bell.
Winner: Braun Strowman (by disqualification)
After the match, Gallows and Anderson attack Braun and they send Braun into the ring post many times.
Seth Rollins’ music plays and he goes after Gallows and Anderson. Rollins with kicks and clotheslines.
Seth tells Braun they are even now.
Samoa Joe walks in the back as we go to commercial.
We are back and Seth Rollins says he knows where this is going. He saw Braun looking at the Universal Title belt. If he had his way, he would give Braun the next title match. They need to settle it against the OC first. Seth says he wants to get a tag title match and he asks Braun if he is in.
Joe says this is where he comes out and makes grandiose promises, but he does not have to speak. The King has spoken.
Cesaro says King of the Ring was his favorite event in WWE. It plays to his strengths. He will take the first step to win the tournament and the King of Swing will be the King of the Ring.Cea
Match Number Four: Samoa Joe versus Cesaro in a First Round King of the Ring Match
Cesaro gets a quick near fall after a European uppercut. Joe with a clothesline to Cesaro. Cesaro with a springboard twisting European uppercut for a near fall. Joe kicks Cesaro away on a Giant Swing attempt. Joe with a chop and a kick that sends Cesaro to the floor. Joe with a suicide dive as we go to commercial.
We are back and Joe with chops. Cesaro fires back with chops of his own. Joe with a clothesline. Joe works on the neck. Joe misses a back senton and Cesaro with a series of European uppercuts followed by a running boot to the head for a near fall. Joe blocks a suplex attempt but Cesaro finally hits a suplex. Cesaro gets a near fall. Joe with chops and forearms. Ceasro with a running European uppercut and Cesaro goes to the floor and hits a running European uppercut. They return to the ring and Cesaro with a cross body off the turnbuckles for a near fall. Joe with an STJoe as Cesaro charges into the corner. Joe hits a back senton and he gets a near fall.
Cesaro with European uppercuts and the Giant Swing. Cesaro with a Sharpshooter. Joe escapes and Cesaro goes for a Neutralizer but Joe escapes into a Coquina Clutch and Cesaro taps out.
Winner: Samoa Joe (advances to face winner of Ricochet versus Drew McIntyre)

We are back and Vic mentions the 24/7 Championship and we see what happened over thw weekend when Drake Maverick tried to win the 24/7 Title wearing a disguise, but he failed.
Elias is in the ring. Elias has some trouble with the sound as he announces that tonight is a night that they will never forget because it is Elias’ farewell performance. Elias says that he has to deal with the King of the Ring Tournament as well as the 24/7 Title. Elias starts to play but his guitar is out of tune. Elias demands a sound tech fix the guitar. The tech comes into the ring and he looks like Truth, but the lights are down. The lights come up and it is R Truth. He has a referee and Truth with a rollup for a near fall. Truth with an inside cradle for a near fall. Truth gets a near fall after a scissors kick. Truth gets a guitar and he swings but misses and Elias escapes the ring.
We see Rey Mysterio in the back as we go to commercial.
We are back and Rey Mysterio is with Charly Caruso. Charly mentions the issues Rey has had with Andrade and the issues Rey talked about his family. Rey thanks Charly for the time. Rey says he has been a very fortunate man and he has a beautiful family and has had a great career. He says he has had the opportunity to meet people all over the world who he feels are not just fans, but family. What Andrade did, he is a disgrace. He ripped his mask off. That is the biggest insult in the Luchador society. Rey says he could see his next moves while in the ring, but his body does not respond. Rey says he has had a lot of injuries during his career because he has faced bigger men. Rey says those injuries have caught up to him. Rey says he knows this day has to come to everybody at some point, but he didn’t expect that it would come to him. Rey says he understands that it is time to hang up the mask and let this new generation of superstars . . .
Dominic stops Rey from taking off his mask. Dominic talks about what Rey said to him. Dominic says he wants to be able to tell his children that he got to tag with their grandfather, the great Rey Mysterio. Don’t do this. Stay in WWE. Don’t retire. Dominic says he will make Rey proud.
Rey says he will do it for Dominic because he loves him.
Match Number Five: Xavier Woods and Big E versus Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder in a Non Title Match
Big E punches Dawson and hits a shoulder in the corner. Big E with a back elbow and he gets a near fall. Big E sends Dawson into the turnbuckles and Woods tags in. Woods with a forearm into the corner followed by a shoulder from Big E. Woods with a clothesline for a near fall. Dawson grabs Woods by the hair and sends Woods into Wilder’s knees. Wilder tags in and connects with a European uppercut and chops. Woods with a chop but Wilder sends Woods into the turnbuckles and follows with a European uppercut. Wilder runs into a boot from Woods and Woods with an Honor Roll. BIg E and Woods clothesline Wilder and Dawson over the top rope to the floor.
We go to commercial.
We are back and Dawson is knocked off the turnbuckles but Woods. Woods with a missile drop kick to Dawson and both men are down. Big E tags in and he hits an overhead belly-to-belly suplex on Wilder and then one on Dawson. Big E with a belly-to-belly suplex to Wilder followed by a Warrior Splash. Big E gets Wilder up but Dawson knocks Woods off the turnbuckles. Big E punches Wilder on the apron and Big E sets for the spear through the ropes and Orton with an RKO and the referee calls for the bell.
Winners: Big E and Xavier Woods (by disqualification)
After the match, Kofi comes to the ring and hits a rolling clothesline on Orton and then Kofi takes care of Wilder and Dawson. Orton with an RKO to Kofi.
Woods goes after Orton and Woods with chops but Dawson and Wilder help Orton with a Shatter RKO. Dawson holds Woods while Wilder goes to the turnbuckles and Orton makes Kofi watch Wilder come off the turnbuckles with a boot to the knee.
Michael Cole is with Sasha Banks as a replacement for Jerry Lawler. Cole calls Sasha’s return last week as one of the most controversial and she is asked if she would like to explain her actions. Sasha says it has been a crazy and emotional week for her. Sasha says she looked in the mirror and she told herself, blue is your color. Look at this. It is all over social media. People are talking about her new hair color. She looks good and feels even better. Cole says no one is talking about her hair, but about her return to WWE and her attack on Natalya.
Sasha tells Cole “You’re Welcome” and leaves.
Match Number Six: Nikki Cross and Alexa Bliss versus Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose in a Non Title Match
Nikki and Sonya start things off and Sonya with a front face lock. Nikki with a double thrust to the throat and Alexa tags in. Sonya with a rollup for a near fall. Sonya gets another near fall. Sonya with a knee to the midsection and Mandy tags in. Sonya and Mandy with kicks and knees and then they send Alexa to the mat and Mandy gets a near fall. Mandy with a chop and Alexa escapes a slam and applies a waist lock. Mandy with a back elbow and single leg take down. Mandy with a drop kick and running knee to the head. Mandy gets a near fall.
Alexa backs Mandy into the ropes and Nikki kicks Mandy in teh back. Mandy goes after Nikki and connects with a forearm. Alexa with a baseball slide to Mandy. Alexa kicks Mandy and sends her back into the ring. Alexa gets a near fall. Alexa with an Irish whip and Nikki tags in and connects with a splash. Alexa with a slap. Nikki with a snap mare and straitjacket choke. Nikki with an Irish whip and Alexa tags in. Nikki with a splash but Mandy with a running knee and both women are down. Nikki and Sonya tag in and Sonya with a clothesline and forearm followed by kicks. Sonya with a sliding knee and she swings at Alexa on the apron. Nikki with a kick to Sonya and Mandy is sent into the ring post. Sonya with a spinebuater to Nikki. Nikki with a swinging neck breaker for the three count.

Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman are in the back and they talk about strategy for the match. Braun appears to be focused on other things as he stares at the Unviersal Title belt. Seth tells Braun to focus and follow his lead.
Braun says he is focused and he tells Seth to follow his lead and they will be tag champions tonight.

Cedric Alexander says he is a man of few words. Tonight, he faces Sami Zayn and he vows to make the most of this opportunity.
Sami Zayn says the last few weeks and months have been garbage for him. He will not let his career go into the trash. This is where he turns it all around. Sami says he is coming after Cedric like a tornado.
Match Number Seven: Cedric Alexander versus Sami Zayn in a First Round King of the Ring Match
Sami with a waist lock and forearms and punches to Cedric. Zayn with a kick and clothesline for a near fall. Sami with another near fall. Zayn chokes Cedric in the ropes. Cedric with a chop but Zayn with a back breaker for a near fall. Zayn with another near fall. Zayn with a reverse chin lock. Zayn with a Michinoku Driver for a near fall. Zayn kicks Alexander and connects with crossfaces and he applies a rear chin lock. Alexander with a forearm and chops. Alexander with a back elbow and flying forearm. Alexander with a boot to Zayn and he leaps over Zayn and hits a handstand head scissors followed by a drop kick. Alexander with a suicide dive. Alexander hits the Neuralizer followed by the Lumbar Check for the three count.
Winner: Cedric Alexander (faces winner of Miz versus Baron Corbin)
We see the Street Profits in the back and they are looking at the King of the Ring brackets. Montez says he is two for two while Dawkins talks about how his bracket has been busted because he had Cesrao in the finals. MOntez talks about the Smackdown matches and Angelo brings up the two Raw matches next week. Angelo wonders why isn’t there a tag team King of the Ring tournament. Montez says they are already the kings. He has the crowm on his head and the gold around his neck. Angelo mentions the Raw Tag Title Match.
We go to commercial.
We are back and Luke and Karl wonder what did Seth and Braun do to get a title match. AJ says this is a chance for the OC to show its greatness. They will show the Universal Champion and the Monster Among Men are no competition for the OC.
Natalya is in the back in her sling and she says she just came from the WWE doctor. It has been one week since she bared her soul to the WWE Universe. Between preparing for her match with Becky Lynch and the anniversary of her father’s passing, she expected an emotional week. She did not expect Sasha Banks. Sasha was her friend and that is why she cannot wrap her head around why would Sasha do what she did last week. We see Sasha attack Natalya again.Sasha kicks the injured arm and she tells Nattie to go to heel and tell your daddy that Sasha says hi.
Match Number Eight: Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows (with AJ Styles) versus Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman for the Raw Tag Team Championships
Strowman and Gallows start things off and they lock up. Strowman backs Gallows into the corner and Strowman with head butts and a shoulder tackle. Rollins tags in and he goes up top and punches Gallows in the ribs. Rollins works on the arm and Gallows with a punch and he sends Rollins into the turnbuckles. Anderson tags in and he sends Rollins into the turnbuckles and punches Rollins in the ribs. Rollins with chops and punches. Rollins with a kick and clothesline. Rollins with an O’Connor Roll as Gallows makes the tag. Rollins kicks Gallows to the floor and then he goes after Gallows and Anderson on the floor. Gallows hot shots Rollins on the ringside barrier and then he drops Rollins on the ringside barrier again as we go to commercial.
We are back and Anderson with an arm bar on Rollins. Rollins with punches but Anderson with a kick. Rollins with a kick and Anderson with a spinebuster for a near fall. Anderson puts Rollins on the turnbuckles and Anderson with a head butt. Anderson sets for a superplex. Rollins blocks it and Rollins punches Anderson in the ribs. Rollins with a head butt. Anderson runs into a boot. Rollins with a blockbuster. Gallows tags in and he goes after the ribs to stop Rollins from making the tag. AJ gets Braun’s attention and Gallows sends Strowman into the ring post and then he kicks Strowman in the head. Rollins with a super kick to Gallows and Anderson tags in. Rollins with slingblade followed by running forearms to Gallows and Anderson. Rollins drops down and Gallows goes over the top rope and Rollins with a suicide dive to Gallows. Rollins with a Falcon Arrow for a near fall.
Rollins is sent to the apron and Rollins punches Anderson and the referee is knocke dout of position and AJ drops Rollins on the top turnbuckle. Gallows tags in and they hit a neck breaker and belly-to-back suplex combination but Rollins kicks out. Anderson tags in and Gallows has some words for Rollins. Rollins punches Gallows but Anderson hits Rollins from behind. Rollins is sent to the floor and Gallows holds Rollins. Anderson talks to the referee and Strowman with a running shoudler tackle to AJ on the floor. Rollins makes the tag to Strowman and Strowman with running shoulder tackles to Anderson followed by a splash. Strowman with a running shoulder tackle to Gallows. Strowman with a splash to Anderson followed by a running power slam.
AJ tries to interfere but Rollins with Black Out. Strowman covers Anderson for the three count.
Winners: Braun Strowman and Seth Rollins (new champions)
