Wrestlers frequently warn fans about scammers impersonating them. Unfortunately, one man named Alfred Mancinelli was duped into believing he was in a relationship with Alexa Bliss.
According to The New York Times, scammers duped the 79-year-old and stole nearly $1 million from him. He gave the scammers money from his retirement savings and his granddaughter’s college fund.
His son went to his father’s house and discovered a family photo on the refrigerator with the WWE star, indicating that the man thought he was in a romantic relationship with her. Prior to the Bliss impersonator, the man had sent money to other scammers who pretended to be in need, such as someone impersonating a woman named “Kate” who claimed her daughter was ill and another named “Anna” who requested funds to help sick children.
The scams reduced Alfred’s savings from $900,000 to only $128,000. After learning about the scam, the son transferred the last $100,000 to a safe account, only to return the money to the account after his father sued him, draining the remaining funds.
Alfried heard tales from the person who played Bliss about Vince McMahon mistreating her. The man passed away in the summer.
